kinky cables

from my mystery below , found comment , from zukipilot @ zukiworld

so i tested the old kinked cable , clamped either end to fiixed points as it is in the car. Then measured the inner cable protrusion  cable unkinked vs kinked , the most i could get was 1/4 inch more. Yet when i tried an on road repair by tightening the 18/19 nut i moved it way more than that and the pedal cable was still sloppy 

And what do i mean by kink ? the outer sheath , the wires were twisted and bent the plastic cover was stretched just where the cable passed above the exhaust.  how the heck does that happen when both ends are fixed ? [ and no i had no reason to twist it putting it in ] And there was a lot of force needed to twist it back

My new cable is longer and has different details

cable passed above the exhaust (that is dead wrong there is no such placement on any new car)
THE CAR AS LOTS OF CABLES FOR THE CLUTCH,
DOOR COUNT 2/4 (4 is called 5 in Europe)
8V./16V ENGINE
AND 1996 NEW RUBBER DESIGNED LOWER END, OF CABLE GEN2.
SO THAT IS (MATH) 4 KINDS, 2 GENERATIONS, 8 CABLES TO WRONG 6 TIMES OUT OF 8.

BUY A NEW CABLE AND KEEP A SPARE AS SOME SOURCE ARE NOW GONE !!!! BOY SCOUTS RULE WIN.

SURE NO CABLE LIKES BEING KINKED, EVEN A BICYCLE
and after 100k miles city slow traffic, the insides of the steel armor , gets a nasty groove and the flex stranded cable jams up in the grover or it frays or both. its called EOL.

the pedal parts crack or spline strips. easy
for sure forcing the pedal (6:1) ratio , 100 lb foot makes 600 lbs of force and bad cable wrecks the pedal parts ,Cracks seen there and weak ass welds too)

2007 pages I made long ago.

never kink any cable, and the cable new has cable guides of steel, lost those, mine had bottom of RAD tank , clip too for the cable, parts miss causes that.
the cable no play , the 2 ends do, at pedal, relaxed and at the clutch,end lever at bell.
is this car LHD? left hand drive or RHD (UK)
no car told at all. ?
ok I see your other posts (DRL) is 95 CDN 8V (sure 5speed box ,m/t)
so is 2 door correct? for sure up in CANADA then very old cars there suzuki vitara , and sunrunner etc there, even 16v 2doors. and more not sold here USA.

never do they ever kink by them selves ever,. road branch wood , sure. can.
they only where out and jam inside that is what they all do, 100k to 200k miles.

ask self this, how many times clutch pushed on in 27 hard years of service.
math on use:
100 per day x 27y, is near 1million pushes. no cable ever went 1million uses. ever . (we keep new spares,for sure,) on this part. no kidding.. 8 versions 1 is right.
the only hard thing to do is finding
1: the right cable and maker. (sourcing it can be huge pain, try rockauto.com

2: and not buy junk brands, some even are outsize sheath is all plastic, no metal armor. ( pure trash)

i found that the cable sheath was made of fairly heavy wires that take a lot of force to twist into the wrap . At the end near the firewall the wires were aligned straight , scrape the plastic off lower down they were still twisted . i think what happened was the sheath unwound , became longer , then kinked to maintain the length between fixed points. Inner cable was as new. 
 
This would explain two things , 1. how the clutch quit while just sitting 2. replacing the cable fixed the problem .

I'm still a bit puzzled as to how the kink produced do much slack in the actual cable . at the time i just assumed something had given way inside the bellhousing . I guess because we are tightening a string across a curve. 

the swing at the end of the clutch lever is 1/2 '' so i am assuming its ok inside the belhousing 

& the  now broken cable was put there by a garage and was a bit off spec as it would not reach the fender hook 

 i'm stockpiling cables and parts from rockauto , cheers ,,
