i am currently working on my 1998 4 door standard sidekick with a 1.8 liter 16 valve engine. When I start up my truck i notice that there was white smoke coming out of the tail pipe. The engine seams to be rocking more than is should be. Also it drinks fuel more than it should. i was wondering if anyone has any solutions.

if the white smoke CONTINUES after it is warmed up , then check your coolant for loss.. head gasket/warped head ??
if it does NOT smoke after warm up, but MISSES ( or engine rocks??) then I suspect a sparkplug/wire/cap/rotor etc easy stuff.
the key here is the coolant going thru the motor , out the tailpipe. you will know this answer for sure.. no guessing as it will continue all the time

if the white smoke at the tip linger its oil, if goes way fast, its steam, (glycol and water, antifreeze and smells sweet and nasty)
take off the rad cap each morning before the first start, does the water drop and same with expansion tank level? bad.
is the white smoke always there, only on cold starts.
at exhaust end tip.

a bit>? 1oz, 1/2 a quart.?
and does the smoke linger, linger = OIL< steam goes away fast , watch moms tea pot, that is steam, and acts totally different thant burning oil. vastly so.....
if you drip the end of the dip stick on to a hot exaust manifold this teach you how burning oil smells and act.
the 1s key diagnosis is these fact, no facts, cant move one..
it continues coming out? , even on a fully hot engine, and after a trip>>????????????
