1991 Suzuki Sidekick JLX trans wiring
#1
I have a 91 4dr Sidekick with the 3 speed automatic. Crawling around yesterday found some wires going to the kickdown control that had been cut and rerouted. A black&red wire was cut and the black and yellow wire were cut. The blk/red and blk/yellow are then wire nutted together on the engine side of the harness. Blk/red and blk/yellow going to the kickdown. go to nothing, just cut. Car shifts fairly well, hard downshift to second at times when accelerating. Supposedly had a new tranny at 65,000 miles, rig now has 100,000. Any idea what they were trying to accomplish with this bypass ? Thanks for all your help

the 3speed, box is simple box, kick down cable Is steel coaxal cable like motorcycle old hand brake or bicycle.brake.

it goes to the throttle, aka passing gear cable. if cut in half. but not cable stuck and pulled out of the box jammed
the shifting will all be fast, 1,2,3. passing, fast.
the cable fails 2 ways, rusted stuck out or in, or snapped stuck in or not. At the tranny end make sure not tuck out.(jammed)

the other connection is hose vacuum ,called vacuum modulator, Color coded for 1.6L and shifts by engine LOAD< up hills it down shifts (or delays up shifts)
and there are 2 major elect connections, one for TCC torque converter lock up clutch solenoid connector on box.
and then the PRNDL switch. on the side of the box.
the PRNDL , allows cranking in P and N, and R turns or backup lamps. wired that way,

will its all here

so are you taking TCC or PRNDL
1.6L 8valve engine, TBI injected, not MPI
