Hello Guys just wanted to say lots of great info on your site fixkick.com has helped me out a lot. THANKS....
Would like to know if I can use a 89-90 late model AT(looks like 91 off of ebay) Throttle Body on my 89-90 early Model 1.6L 8v, I know the ISC And air bleed is different, and if so what do I need to do to use it.
Also my Air Intake Temp sensor was bad. What can I use to replace it, I have not be able to find one with pig tail.
Thanks for any help David

not really,
the 91, has a different injector, and the ISC valve has higher ohms than 89/90 coil , 2x more.
http://www.fixkick.com/fresh-air/Slide_S...ge_41.html
91 to 95 match, see those water pipes on the ISC< that tells you , 91+
89s are hard cars to fix, using used, parts, suzuki sells some,
whats' wrong with your TB, IAC base thermal valve stuck open or closed?
that IAT is unique too.
the tps is calibrated different, for your ECU. and ISC? and injector i think.
are you sure the iAT is bad?, most never fail, there are so easy test, uses same scale as ECT
or use the newer one and ground the other pin on iat, ive never tired the thread check, but the ohms should be good.
suzuki sells the iAT
sure the price is insane as is all EFI parts. and bits.
iat = 13650-61A00 $88
http://www.suzukicarparts.com/parts/1989...eid=214820
the bleed valve is and upgrade.
the problem is the injector diffs. and TPS timing, Ive never tried it, the 89 isc will burn up a 91+ ecu,
the isc sucks big current on an 89 at 6 ohms.
but 12ohm 91+ will not hurt your 89 but not sure how that would play out. (maybe slow, idle reaction time?, or gets lost?)
here is iat ohms table.
http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/temp-sensors.html
easy to test. it is , most last for ever, just air there.

Problem with tb is the hot idle set screw broke off housing and one screw broke in other side. Could build up and tap. and IAT was busted from PO. Seen the tb on ebay and it said it was 89-90 but its was not 91+. Will try to get tb repaired early this weekend and order iat.
Thanks Fixkick you do a great service, David

the older tb do show up time to time. on ebay
sometimes the whole tb and intake man, at huge discounts.
do lots of searching for geo tracker and sidekick 1989, use different words, like intake or throttle body, etc. they are in the mix.
here is one now
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sidekick-Side-Ki...1655594295
and spits in half horizontally
so you can mix two good parts and get one.
even buy 2, TB to get one super good one, I did just that, looked near new. when done.
the funny thing, some sell the whole thing cheap ,others remove just TPS and sell it at gold prices,,

Hello fixkick I found a TB $50.00 and hit has everything still on it. Going to rebuild it.
I also bought the gasket set (standard pt# 1716) but looking at your TB air supplies image pages, im not sure of placement of gaskets.
image 16 of 45 and image 19 of 45: do I use A/T bott. 1 under PTC and the slotted one on top, between PTC and TB for the vac or the A/T bott. 1 and bott. 2??
Thanks David

its very tricky all that and is not documented.
the kit works with many cars,
A/T and M/T
really the only trick is keep all holes open, water, sure that big hole, (lol) the all others too.
but never those drilling small holes.
image 16 that gasket is mostly there see it?
the slot gasket is top.
there are only 2 A/t BOTTOM GASKETS, SOME ARE EXTRA In this universal kit.
the slot gasket is on top of the heater plate.
the reg, gasket is bottom of that plate.
this is all that matters, here im making a home made gasket with Napa generic material.
the 5 tiny holes must be blocked.
http://www.fixkick.com/fresh-air/Slide_S...ge_14.html
home made.
http://www.fixkick.com/fresh-air/Slide_S...ges/P3.jpg
http://www.fixkick.com/fresh-air/Slide_S...ges/P3.jpg
if you look again the long slot arc slot goes to a medium hole, that passed through the bottom heater plate and to matching plenum hole.
above water hold seen here

I revised this,
tell if i did this correctly.
im hoping so.
lucky for my photo the old gaskets leave witness marks.
I hope your new TB runs like new. !!!
http://www.fixkick.com/fresh-air/Slide_S...ge_19.html
i think the slot, cut, prevents the gasket from deforming, buckling, from fuel, oil, egr gasses and other nasty stuff, there, if was not cut it ,might warp there and block the path, so when done, there is aluminum on both sides (M.T) and alum and hard heater plastic in this case but are reliable path.
might take a long time to do that (warp) and be a big pain to find, im sure.
also the center gasket, (TB) middle, loves to harden, crack; then suck in, this causes crazy TB actions, even that bleed hole drilling, can suck air from that and engine races forever.

Fixkick I looked at the revised pic and it's a lot easier to understand now, it takes all guessing out. Great job as always.
Thanks David
