Hello everybody. I have a suzuki sidekick 1.6 8v, and when it s cold dont stay running only if i press the accelerator very fast and often, after it warms up it stays on, but does not accelerate suddenly unless I press acceleration verry slowly. During the test, check engine flash 1,after 4.
Fuel pump is New, air filter and fuel filter are New.

WELCOME SPEEDY13
EVER SEE THIS CAR RUN /DRIVE PERFECT?EVER? OR JUST NOW FAILED OUT OF THE BLUE?

NO YEAR TOLD OR COUNTRY, 91 TO 95 IS MY ANSWER ONLY ,NOT EARLIER.

IN THE USA THIS CAR IS 1989 TO 1995, 8V AND ENDED 8V IN USA BY EPA LAWS ON TBI.
THIS CAR HAS THROTTLE BODY INJECTION, TBI.
AND HAS TBI IAC VALVE, THAT love to fail this old. (sorry for caps my eyes are scheduled for new lenses soon,(cataracts).... older than dirt me, 75yo
DTC code 14? or 41? the codes come out just like Sam Morse codes 1 at a time. first is first, 2 is last. so flash pause flash flash flash flash is 14 see?
14 ECT Sensor Circuit Engine Coolant temperature sensor, too high V(oltage) (WIRE CUT TO IT OR BAD ETC)<< AND SUPER BAD STARTING THE ENGINE THIS.

41 one is: Ignition Signal Circuit , spark or CMP errors. from distributor to the spark coil (minus side) is FAILING AND IS SAME WIRE THAT RUNS THE DASH TACHOMETER

Your engine/EFI has 2 problems? , idle out of control and lack of power. OR IS PURE SPARK MISFIRE, IF YOU FEEL AN ENGINE SHAKE THAT IS MISFIRING
IDLE AIR SUPPLY
the IAC is BUILT IN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TB, AND CAN NOT BE REPLACES EASY LIKE 16VALVES ENGINE CAN BE. IAC CAN FAIL STUCK CLOSED, AND THE ENGINE WILL NOT START UNLESS YOU ADD 5% RIGHT FOOT THROTTLE (your foot acts as IAC in this test)
at 150f the IAC closes and now ISC runs idle speeds (regulated by the ECU)

There are 2 DEVICES, IAC AND ISC , THE LATTER IS 2 WIRE ELECTRIC IDLE SPEED FOR HOT ENGINE.
my guess code 41
flash 1,after 4. <<< means flashes 1 first the 4 and then the the long pause last. means 41. and is gross CMP misfire.
cam sensor misfire. is inside the bottom of the distributor is the DIzzY connector side loose or rusty pins or damaged?
41 is very serious matter, SPARK COIL PRIMARY SIDE FAILING.
the cmp TELLS THE ECU WHEN TO FIRE
THE ECU THEN CHARGED THE IGNITOR AND COIL (SPARK COIL) AND THEN RELEASE IT AND 20,000 VOLTS HAPPEN TO SPARK PLUGS.
THE ECU MONITORS THE IGNITOR /COIL PIN VIA A BROWN WIRE, IF THE SIGNAL HERE IS BAD, CODE 41 POPS. ENDLESS.
YOUR SPARK IS NOT DEAD, BUT CODE 41 MEANS THE BROWN WIRE SIGNAL MISFIRES. EVEN A BAD SPARK COIL CAN DO THAT.
code 42 is CMP fail
code 41 is ignitor/coil fails.

are you sure the cam belt (tbelt) is not slipped and if is cam and spark timing is now way off, ever 60 to 100k miles the belt must replaced
if compression is 150 up on all for and not 70PSI the belt is still timed right.
IF BELT IS BAD THE ECU CAN GET REALLY CONFUSED WITH CMP ERRORS NOT IN SYNC WITH SPARK (JOGGING ,MADLY)

cmp is here

THE IGNITOR SIGNAL LOOKS LIKE THIS

https://fixkick.com/IGN_timing/slideshow...prim2w.jpg

THE WIRING IS HERE, 91 UP TO 95 THE BRN WIRE IS FILING FOR 41.

https://fixkick.com/ECU/8v-tbi-schematic91to95.jpg

MAKE SURE THE MAP SENSOR HOSES ARE NOT CLOGGED WITH GUNK END TO END ,NIPPLE TO NIPPLE.

CODE 41 CAN NOT BE IGNORED, ONLY REPAIRED,

PULL DOME FUSE FOR 1 MIN AND PUT BACK CLEARS ALL DTC ERROR TO SEE IF THEY COME BACK
