My frankensuk needs help.

Nag switch is gone, wired correctly. All this is my fault, normally a Toyota mechanic before I discovered Suzuki's. I'm still learning suzukis, on Toyota when you jump diagnostic for timing, it does check engine light as well. I feel special right now. So check engine is flashing a 12. Yay. Now I guess question I have is when jumping blue-red to ground, that should lower my idle for timing correct? It's not, tps was in spec and adjusted per procedure( ie; feeler gauges and multi meter).

I'm assuming tps is incorrect. I will check in a.m. at least I'm getting closer, and replaced all caps in ecu at same time. Working out weak links, sometimes I'm the weak link I discovered.

the freeze jumper, "test switch" does just that, the freeze wire, causes the ECU to stop all spark advance. there is no toyota here, its 100% Suzuki RICE.
the early cars have no such jumpers, 89./90 G16s in sidekicks (no ECU advance exists, its distributor only advance then)
Vitara/Sidekicks/trackers (your ECU is this)
then in 1991, suzuki added spark to the ECU, and spark bounces like mad now, on all 91 year up, full EFI systems. up to today. (that seen bounce saves lots of fuel, by design)
the spark is controlled by the ECU, the RPM is fixed by ECU, and controlled by the ECU, via the ISC.
ON the new ECU, you have 2 RPM'S hot, 800 rpm and 1000s,(hot) the 1000 is idle up mode, which is A/C on or P/S overload, mode.

the freeze jumper is only for setting spark (and duty) (my name, freeze ")timing, by using a strobe light and distributor clamp, adjustments.
the is one more DLC pin, that idle duty cycle setting. this puts the ISC in the center of its range, this is done on the top right corner of the 16v throttle body there is an idle air bleed screw.
we use a duty cycle meter to set the ISC to 50% duty on a hot engine. buy using the bleed screw. seen on all G16b 16v.
the ECU CONTROLS idle to 800, , even if you shift a A/T trans in to drive, the ECU holds, 800 like magic. this magic is called a servo. "servo regulation"
same with turning on all electrical accessories, even using up 50amps of alternator power, the ENGINE holds 800 RPM using the ISC. to do that. like magic. and is same on a new car.
it also regulates air, at 15,000 ft, altitude, with very very thin air, it opens more. (and a weak engine)

here is the timing freeze jumper, (as you can see the G16b engine, EFI is unlike any old sammi) Freeze is

"test switch" is suzuki jargon for FREEZE spark advance. that wire is always blue-red, 4pin or 6pin connectors , suzuki uses both,
the other wire. is.

if the car idles hot at 800, id leave DUTY alone.
there are 4 ways to check duty. ( I can do 3 of them)_
1: using a factory duty meter (secret meter, no docs, on earth exists)
2: use off shelf modern duty meter. (at the ISC wire pins) They sell DMM for cars, with duty, mode. very common, even FLUKE sells them. if rich.
3: use $10 DMM and use Volts DC mode, 50% = 7vdc, (at the ISC wire pins) (50% and 7v is 1/2 of Alternator voltage which is about 14v)
4: use a scope, set the 200Hz square wave to . 2.5mS, up and 2.5mS down, for 5ms Period. (at the ISC wire pins)

best is to leave dutycycle. alone if it idles hot a 800.

page 78/79 below PDF, covers the duty check and settings.
no air leaks, no vacuum leaks allowed, and the IDLE SWITCH must be closed (TPS) or the duty cycle is dead, ISC is off line, with switch failure
or not calibrated, and idle speeds will be random as a side show, (no regulation)
see p78 +
http://www.fixkick.com/look/odds-ends/su...Baleno.pdf

and my duty page, I use cheap duty meter.

http://www.fixkick.com/IDLE-AIR/dutycycl...html#Begin

its not complex, but there are 3 and more generations of vitara's the real name of car world wide.
the fact is there are many things to cause idle to fail, and not one is duty set wrong, (unless bleed screw was molested or the idle stop screw turned (bad to bone that)

the idle speed works like and autopilot on an airplane. it's called servo, it a software loop in the ECU,
there are many servos. one for fuel , then spark, , then idle speeds. and more.

cheers.

TPS idle,
if pin 2 is at 0v, the tps idle switch is closed, 5v is open switch and means its set wrong.

use a volt meter and back probe the pins key on, no need to start engine. pin1 is ground, pin 2 is idle switch out. 0v is idle. near.
if found at 5v , its calibrated wrong, and idle controls will be OFF line fore ever, until corrected.
