Koyo Wheel bearing
#1
I have just bought a koyo bearing for my Vitara (sidekick) P/N 75055
it is one that does not pull apart do I have to re pack it with grease? if so how just push it in from the sides? I don't want to put it in and wreck a bearing.

what wheel?
told front.

front wheel, stock and all roller bearings bearings come in packing grease, never use that, (it's there to stop "ON THE shelf rusting", only, it is not rated for disc brake heat of any kind)
case in point:2015
My new Timkens are packed in dry nitrogen gas (no grease) and says on the sealed plastic do not open until ,installed. ending this usage of packing grease forever...

the bearings must never have parts mixed either, cups and cones, as they are perfect machined matching set.

Timken or National bearing co.'s P/N 517009 P/N = Part Number < same number at National bearing co. this is correct bearing as are all bearings listed on ROCKAUTO.com (many there, beck ,nsk, etc, all top brands)
all are crush bearing.

clean them in Stoddard solvent (paint thinner used for oil base house paint) (sold in all hardware stores dirt cheap)
dry them off and pack them, using a zip top sandwich bag.. (super easy trick)

we now learn those ball bearings are only for the new serial VIN , JIMNY.
your car is no Jimny.

those are Jimny bearing,, a vitara is no jimny

im still looking, I have real parts list for all vitara.etc.

1994 4wd, Vitara.

that bearing has balls.
Vitara all run tapered rollers.

the Jimny used both types.
vitara rollers
and jimny balls. - 84A00 pn suz...
it fits the same pn/ hubs.
not sure how.? but does.
grease them best you can. and press them in, after pressing out old cups. (not easy)
using disc brake grease.
we dont have these here in USA.the car nor those odd bearings used on some Jimny's

but wait, looking at the full parts list, the main axles are different for the 84a00 bearings. oops.....you were sold wrong parts, that is if not running front jimny axles.

the bearing only fits this car with these VIN and only Jimny. SN415 zuk your car is SE416 not SN.
the first pn is same as Vitara, but not second. first is rollers, second is balls.

there are 28 types, of SE416 sold over world. is your a Santana,(spain) or Mygar Hungarian?
what market code is on your fire wall. list line. tag
the non usa cars are listed by market first. year, id last.
id did a 1988 to 2004 global search on
that bearing by suzuki
and it was only used on SN jimny's .
and only with the 4 JS , vins and above....

my guess is they might fit.
based on, hub same, axle shell same (inside bearing it goes)
and only the axles are different, why? I dont know but they do not touch the bearings at all only the shells.
the other parts are all the same. it show in the catalog suz.
they might be pre-greased ok, id ask koyo that... as ive never seen these ball bearings ever.

your bearing look pre oil, not greased
use real HD wheel bearing grease top of line for disc brakes. I run chevron, in mine. Mobile 1 grease , syn.
i have no idea at all , the preload on those bearings. lacking a real Jimny book here.
but is key to know....

really all this number matter
[Image: Jap-E24-1994plate.jpg]
only this is needed to buy correct parts for any suzuki... just that tag.

see that code 24 that means , your market car. there are 53 more markets. possible
but only half made, world wide.
the tapered rollers are Crush bearings, same as 93 plus real Jeeps use.
and when curshed under 123 to 180lbs (ft/lbs) of force full time, the clearance (play) is about .001" inches, or 2 thou.
if not the all fail fast, the Timken site shows the test done to prove that. its not unknown this.

why not use the correct bearing set?
some shops just pound them on with a cold chistle. and fails soon after.

i can not speak for those ball bearings used on some Jimnys, we dont have them here.

but ill try to cross them later to , timken, if i can , they will tell me all about them...

Yes mine says 24 I have the right tools and when I have done them all have been torqued up just asked the place I bought them from and their reply was: Hi I have contacted our supplier and all they can advise is - up to OEM spec. Thanks. So I will just put in and torque up and if it fails send it back to them

ok got the answer from KOYO
they are pre-greased. (unlike, the real spec bearing, tapered roller crush type.)
they are not preloaded .
set the nut to 25ft/lbs. (guess) then lock the lock ring.
the proof is here.
seems hard to find in the USA< so, is only there, that the sell them and in Europe.

SOLVED

your car did not come with these, they only came on high VIN serial Jimny's..
no vitaras, had these. (suzuki data)
but they do fit. (by seeing all parts that change, )

i see all the 4wd forums talking about this for 5 years.
in UK and in Australia.
and no answers. (tons of guessing,,, not one jimny owners with real FSM to save day, not anyone )

well now we find the truth.
it's a substitute, and has the advantage of not needing the special torquing tool to set the high preload. for for the correct roller bearings.

really its a nice setup, too bad we dont have them here.

i tried to cross it and failed hard....

id not use 123-180 preload
my guess it will cause the center part to deform with bad results.

CHEERS and good luck to you !!!

and thanks for the learning experience, we always wondered what this bearings fit, when others find them..... very odd this...

and thanks for those high res photos, they make seeing exactly what is there... easy.

the rollers, type (stock) set too loose?
will beat them selves too death.. (many shops under torque them or use no real wheel bearing grease or both) that cheap packing grease is no good... at all.
but these are ready to rock, "easy peasy japaneasy."
nice;..!
