sure the factory set net torque spec. on the front 17mm head bolt , to 94ft/lbs, in 1996 retroactive to all older, too.
if not set at that torque if fails, the key is only for initial set up , the key has no strength at all.
the problem is folks not reading TSB  or fear the torque wrench. or have  automatic trans and do not know how to lock the flywheel to set it.
it has nothing at all to do with years. ever. (it is ALL BAD service,  you car came new set correctly that is for sure) latter shops do it wrong.

potential sales, that is whole other kettle of fish.
if the bolt up front (big one 17mm hex bolt end ) is tight now, changes are it is ok.

many have custom locktite repaired keys,  now.  some last some don't.

its over 5 yours labor to inspect eyes on keyway.  so....... there is that.....

good luck to you !

see my bad crank key page,  all that is there, totally.

all 3 keys all 3 generations are there, with suz, part numbers
and the locktite to use , varies by amount of damage, found.

the fancy Locktite is called structural... super amazing product. 660, with 2500lb shear strength.   killer , but the 271 product can work, and 100x more easy to find.
