92 Tracker won't start
#1
I have a 92 Tracker 5 spd 4wd. I bought it a few months ago. I've replaced the battery and alternator. When I turn the key to ON, the dash lights are on. Fuel pump primes. Turn it to Start and lights go dim, might try to turn over, might not. Will start with a jump but runs rough. Each gear shifts fine but throttle after sputters. I'm out of ideas. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

welcome Fifth.

looks like many problems, but lets fix #1 first.
the gross power loss from battery
see the green here

see the schematic there too>?
that is all you need and a meter to find cause. of starter and gross elect. power failure.

I've replaced the battery and alternator. (is starter ground big wire tight on starter mount bolt?
When I turn the key to ON, the dash lights are on. Fuel pump primes. Turn it to Start and lights go dim (electric power loss), might try to turn over, might not.
the clutch switch must close, to get starter to cranked.
when it doesnt crank, that is weak battery, bad cables, bad starter or key line dead,(clutch switch)
to find out.what it is, use a voltmeter to the starter big lug to ground, tells you if the battery power drops cranking, 11v is normal drop .
if battery holds up high cranking,, then hot wire the starter solenoid big lug to tiny lug (out board big lug )
if that cranks the engine fast, then you know the starter is ok and key line is dead.

Problem 2:
Will start with a jump, but runs rough. so proves battery has this drain, parked over night. see my phantom drain page>?
Each gear shifts fine but throttle after sputters.
I'm out of ideas.
engine misfiring? not back firing right? that cough cough to air cleaner box."?
all new spark parts and filters.?

cap, rotor, wires, and filters?

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

misfire has 50 causes.
