Good day Fix. No sir, tranny filter has been changed twice during this thread life. The filter that has not been changed under my ownership is the fuel filter. Ill do that one this weekend.

My local A/T shop is closed today so Ill check on monday.
Went to as 30yrs A/T parts dealer and prices are great. the overhaul kit is 150, thel clean the valve body for 20 and the TC for 45. The things is doing the overhaul. Don't worry I have your links for the correct Overhaul kit for my tranny. This is just in case.

Will keep you posted.

Here pick of the filter back in february of this year that was changed in summer of 2014.
Now it has another newer. So lets forget about tranny filter.

Magnet was also cleaned and a pic of the valve body just for records.

All this was done february 2015. Ill keep you posted on my situation, thanks!!!

read all 100 posts and filter not mentioned changed out....im sure i missed it some how.....
so did you use snake oil next? (magic bottle of juice that makes transmissions work)?
say all actions taking in one post.?
and if the TV cable is good, end to end.

sure the fuel filter can be clogged, and 10x that if bad gas sold.

car wont move for 1minute to 10 is bad trans. (shifter works) and is line pressure failure doing those minutes.
cause is many. "only super man ,with xray eyes can find it"

could even be seals in valve body bad, even the MANUAL valve bad or leaking or just a weak pump. or a leak inside on the main pressure line.

$500 core
$1500 rebuilt
http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog/...sions.html

the list of causes are huge.
even pressure reg .
if the pressure in to the manual valve is too low, the output of the valve in DRIVE (it is drive line) will be low.
or if the drive line feed, is leaking, same thing.
the TV cable and cause line pressure to be low.
as can pump, reg, and stuck manual valve , leaking OD clutch and others reasons
more....
forward clutch leaks.
"leakage from D range, fluid pressure circuit"
or any leaking Accumulators.. seals.... lots and lots of seals to leak in DRIVE.
the spec for P/n to drive is 1.2 seconds max.

the box is really built up a43DE box. more common, 2wd in base form. but is 4wd here,,,,, Aisin + Borg Warner box.

lets look at nicer drawing with this 41TE , simular but drawing is for drive mode... nice.
see the pump see those red lines. if those have leaks , it will fail.. in drive.
s1 to s4 solenoid valves.
the clutch servos are on top.

if the 7 minute delay to move is in reverse too?. then the problem is only on the bottom red lines, not the DRIVE red lines in center. see that?
that would mean leaks there, or regulator stuck or leaking
or a simple weak pump.

finding the true cause is very hard, most big shops do not try to, they send it out.
some builders sell rebuilt valve bodies, but what then, if that fails to fix it? at $300 a pop and not returnable. (warning they had 2 body styles and different parts inside)

its not that screen show above. its not dirty enough.
it's more serious.
im sure line pressure is too low.
and may be in reverse too, the FSM shows doing both, for good reasons.

but is the TV detent valve retracted? on the casing...
the TV stuck out , will not fix. start off.. delay
only make shifting way late.
but if it was stuck and the delay is tolerable, then you can skip a full fix. after getting TV working again..

line pressure is

D-idle=55-63psi., D-stall=166-188psi, R-idle= 73-81psi, and R-stall=202-237

real name is.
AiSIN Borg WARNER, A43DE.

all parts inside

rebuild manual number is on last page

Well my 5spd tranny is slipping again in the first start of the morning for at least 10min, then the rest of the day is fine. You would not tell is slipping. Just as a recap filter was changed at the beginning of the year doing the 3 time home flush. Problem started a little bit after that. What are my options other than full rebuild? If line pressure tests fails and stall test too what can i do ?

Regards!!
My second filter change. Post 75.

And below first post ever when I first contacted you.

Im new to posting in this forum but I've been reading for a long time from the best Sidekick repair page ever! I've done most of my repairs using the resources of this site and I'm very grateful.

To my problem. My tranny late shifts when parked down or up hill for a long time? After a while or warmed it will shift and work normal. If parked leveled it will shift normal. I changed filter and fluid about 1

Got a quote today for 1,100 for a full rebuild. Will call other shop on monday and see what ill do. How hard or easy is to check that TV cable? Not much space below?

Thanks for everything!!!!

No, the delay is only on drive. Reverse takes about 2 seconds.

most these cars a person can crawl under there no jacks.
the cable goes from the Throttle (on body) to the trans.
the part in the trans must not be jammed.
or park with 2 right tires on a curb, and no can go under no jacks needed.

here is a new cable, detent. TV.
http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/slid...age_8.html

from side its here. hides behind the shifter switch and manual valve crank .

its not easy to check
tedious fit.

sorry a tick mark got in the last char.

disconnect the top end, then pull out the slack.
grab the center wire, and feel fit the other end moves under spring loading
should feel like you are stretching a spring, it its sold, its stuck.

the A40 series of transmissions
the kick down crank is above the throttle body.
the body must be dropped on this box. to get the cable replaced.

part 20 is the cam for TV , see spring 17
http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/slid...ge_20.html
usually this never fails here.
but the cable can crack, (plastic sheath) and lets in water and cable seized. and can stick pulled.
try to feel spring 17 from top side, at TB

if it sticks out tranny is in whats called passing gear (no such thing) but is late shifting, or downs shifts. by cable demand.
looks like that cam 20, moves 1/2 half turn.
the cable end ball, fits in the #20 ball socket there.

What operates this cable when using the gear selector on center console? Seem that cable can cause any kind of troubles? And what is its function?

the big cable is the shift lever. im not talking that. if that is maladjusted. you may not get in to drive, or park or reverse... or Low.
the shifter controls the transmission MANUAL VALVE only. (and the od switch) the PRNDL valve and its switch, this cable allows you to shift to drive, and is calibrated too.
it's just a large shift cable that allows the driver to to shift gears.

then the skinny cable..... Mr, kickdown (aka , TV, throttle valve, or passing gear cable)
This kickdown, allows you to pass cars. you mash the gas to the floor and transmission down shifts. (to say pass a car on the road or go up hills faster) it also allows fast up shifts on flat ground.
it works both ways, too. if you are driving with heavy right foot, all shifts are DELAYED. (by design and need)
if your drive with a light right foot the trans upshifts fasters... sooner.....

this all 100% Hydraulics...inside..the box.. and cable, to your right foot.

so, if the cable seizes and is stuck out , guess what?, transmission is in passing gear full time. (aka real late shifting , if at all)
it can get stuck in any position, the fate of rust. (end the end they all rust)

the the cable disconnected top side
we can feel spring 17
if not , bingo.

my 2004 box still has this part. H25 engine attached.

to replace the cable the valve body needs to be dropped to see this cam 20.
used on vast toyota and volvos too. the A40 series of boxs. (Aisin/warner boxes of most kinds)
A prefix = Aisin made (company name)

The TCM also watches the TPS throttle angle, i do not know how the above and TPS inter act. are they additive? or averaged. or what? (secret TCM software inside)
but both do have an effect. (as is common, one may be a backup to the other. (either can fail)

more... what above new transmission using the old cable, well.... here is what i have to say.....

i forget we have this. ( a real 4speed book) it's linked off my 4speed page... ( i should read my own pages....lol)
http://www.acksfaq.com/pdfs/FSMsq416_1of2.pdf

pages (pdf not actual)
457 to 464 covers all this.
covers stall test. and why they fail. (lots of ways)
covers manual mode testing
covers fail safe effects.
shows how to calibrate the TV cable. (wont fix cold stall failures nor fix car cant move cold )

the line stall test fails cold (can mean low line pressure,) does it fail in reverse too> cold?

late shifting, causes.
the line test can fail if the TV is stuck .
that is why i asked about TV, for 2 reasons, low line pressure and late shifting, the effect of low line pressure.
and a weak engine will shift late. (imagine a lawn mower engine there, you'd be in 1st gear forever , see why?, low line pressure due to low HP to pump)

TV issues: (throttle valve tranny) I like kick down cable name.
the calibration step on TV , requires finding the point of no slack.
the book skips the obvious, gee does the cam spring work? now? by hand.????? if not the cable is bad. or worse.

the TV can cause low line pressure, per the Factory page above.
here are the cable facts. I just added them..
