93 Sidekick 16v exhaust manifold. Do they exist?
#1
    Hello!

My 1993 Suzuki Sidekick JX 1.6ltr 16v G16A(B?) 4x4 manual four door a/c USA federal ECU left hand drive white w/stripes 71k miles has a cracked manifold. Hairline crack around the back cylinder outlet tube near the O2 sensor. I ordered the “one” offered from rockauto.com but it doesn’t fit because it’s for 8v and that wasn’t disclosed online. I can’t find any stock style for my model and I’m looking at Thorley headers that are $375 as my only option. From what I’ve read this is a common break so junk yard parts are more junk than part and typically have the same crack on #4.

Anyone else had this problem? Is there cheaper ones that have worked without major fab work? Coworker said to just slap some high temp epoxy on there lol

Thanks

yah they all do that 16v #4 crank,,, aftermarket header is cure.
yah suzuki in there great wisdom used same engine code on the VIN for both 8v and 16v engines, GM did not, it used, U/6 code (6= 16v) U=8v.
so parts stores sell the wrong parts, vast. due to that silly error by suzuki.

as  you know high temp epoxy may not work at 2000f degree's and huge huge iron thermal expansion and contraction there.
good idea to pass smog test but not for long term fix. IMO

the 8v and 16v head have totally different radical manifold bolt patterns, intake and exh.
there are no common parts on the 2 heads, or manifolds.

block is same , pistons not.

all you can do is google for parts,
but watch carefully for , missing O2 mount and not fitting to stock exhaust pipes. (fed and calif, types not the same hear, long header and short for those)
do not buy from anyone, unless they tell valve count, on this car..

Suzuki sells the manifold but will crack again and is super expensive there, if even stocked now.
here is my buy page (old)
see them all; here factory Pn/

all the used ones are cracked, and many yards do not sell them.
they break easy dropped. (shipping risks them)
the best is custom headers, with 02, fitted, if in calif , they fail you on site viewed and no calif Calif(ARB) certification proof. so there is that pain.
