90 Tracker CEL issue

Hi,

I was reading through this site's excellent pages on CEL, DTCs, and the NAG. I did not, however, find the solution to my Tracker's issue.

I just bought it, and the CEL is continually flashing code 12. This is happening any time the key is on, with or without engine running. The Diagnostic port is not jumpered.

If I jumper the Diagnostic port, I get only 12, long pause, 12, long pause, 12... Pretty much the same as when I remove the jumper.

Has anyone heard of this happening? Could this be related to the NAG? My impression is that the NAG causes a continuous glow.

The Tracker runs fine, but I haven't driven it enoughto evaluate fuel economy.

yes the fuse box on most 90s has the DLC diag, fuse, they use a fuse for the jumper thejn.
the nag in only on USA cars and only federal versions not calif. version.
remove this fuse

Thanks! There was no fuse box cover, but sure enough, there was a 20A fuse in that position. I removed it, and all is now well with the CEL!
