that part 8 is a spline, it must only slide.
side to side movement is very bad, it be like .002" clearance new, can not be felt this play when new (takes dial indicators to measure)
whines only moving , never parked, in neutral.
right?
whine stops when moving or cut throttle? moving?
whine stops if you float the throttle (not speeding up or down, just floating cruise)?
noise worse accelerating?
finding noise source is not easy (moving only noise) lacking an electronic stethoscope.
and noise can telegraph, seen rear u-joints send noise up to transmission, end. fooling the tech.
but you already, found a bad part.
part 8 is bad.
so replace that. best is to replace known bad parts first. with noise.
these parts do go bad, its common on high mileage Vitara's.
