there is no hurry to make EGR work if not main stuck open

the benefits of EGR
are:
passes smog man test -- NOX reduction.
valve in head run cooler and longer (exhaust)
engine will not PING (knock)
what's cool is newer cars with VVT cams no EGR at all. to fix or cause pain.
