trip, and odometer are same, device inside, that means the cable is bad. all 3 years (SV418 is car real name) have a cable here, flex speedo cable drive.
never does mgp and odometer/trip fail, all at once in any head with cable drive good. if one thing fails, then head is bad. ,see?
the 3 devices inside run off the cable in PARALLEL.
what are the flash codes for the TCM?????????
this is first, always, anytime the trans shifts wrong, the TCM, the TCM does all autoshifts, and if inputs are wrong or dead to the TCM it reports them
the TCm on this car has 2, VSS sensors.
the main one on the end of the trans
and the backup, I call VSS2, in the speedo head, this is a backup only. so the TCM can keep shifting if the tail sensor fails.
the tail sensor can need cleaning, they can grow hair (metal filings found in all trans) can land there and packup up there due to the VSS magnet inside,(hall)

there are the TCM codes.
for 93and 97/98
in 1997 the TCM moved inside, the ECU, and scans with any OBD2 scan tools shows, both TCM and ECU engine errors, at once
the 96 and older, the TCM is outside the ECU, in its own box and needs to be jumper clip diag tested. jumper it and OD flashes codes see above, 2 digit codes.
you know that?
when you drive does the OD lamp flash or act odd????? this is first first.
that.
The TCM in the 96 does that. means trouble with inputs to TCM or with trans,
