Kick, I plugged the two connectors on my new cluster assembly(before re-installing it) just to see if the tachometer would work. As you said it works fine.

The last thing to do before tighting the cluster is to plug the speedo cable. It seems to short for allow me to plug it with my finger in the back of the cluster, when you say "we flex the locking device to get it free" are you talking about the locking device Under the Hood. ? it would then let me to pull the cable Inside the car some inches so it would be easier to plug it in the back of the cluster.
