what do you mean "ecu reports only dead maf not weak" ? ARe you saying getting a code 34 means that the MAF is not dead? I dont have much history with this truck. Ive had it a year and got it from my ex brother in law (he was going to junk it, running and driving). I havent been driving it Ive just been fixing it up

OBD1 is not smart at all like modern cars
the errors mean dead.
this Car does not report weak sensor, as all modern obd2 cars do 1996 and newer,
that code means the maf is dead.

OBD1 only does things see on my page
the checks are outputs stuck high or stuck a zero.
 
DTCs are from catastrophic tests that run full time,  51 is special.  if  sensor shorts to ground it fails if it short to 5v or 12 vdc it show stuck high. and both mean dead.

code 51 can be , and mean weak that  is one exception.  weak EGR flow, it can detect.
