93 Sidekick A/C Condenser
#2
(06-23-2021, 09:18 AM)Falconius Wrote: Hi guys!

im attemping to figure out what i need to do to fix my A/C.
my old condenser's connector popped off at the upper hose.
so i looked around and picked up a condenser for my 2d 93 sidekick.

well that one has different connectors for the hoses, and the lower condenser connector is on the other side of the condenser...
its supposed to be the right part, but seems wrong. the old one was mounted at 4 points to the radiator, this one has 2 mounts to radiator, and 2 points where it would sit into a bracket...
but i dont have that bracket.

im relatively confused here.
I cant seem to find upper and lower hoses that have the connections i need. It appears this had already had a conversion to r134a, as the Schrader valves for the manifold fit properly.

i have a couple pictures here.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks!
28 years old, any thing there is possible (grin)

EPA USA forced the change

Vehicles made before 1994 use R12, or Freon®, then R134a

and the changed to PAG oil
and all new pressure rules.  and huge tax for reUSED R12  '(it's not expensive it's all tax worse than booze or tOBACCO $$.)

hi/low. spec PSI

new hoses, new condensor, now compressor, evap, expansion valve and more lots more. brackets and such.

the laws even mandated fittings changes so R12 shops done not get confused, and mix gases.

R12 refrigerant is no longer available to the consumer because of environmental concerns, but is still available for use by trained technicians and installers.
In fact, the main reason R12 is still available is these same technicians have continued to (recovery systems) recycle, clean, and reuse the remaining supply. New R12 is no longer being manufactured.(USA)

i'm RUNNING r22 IN MY HOME NOW 15 YEARS.
don't ask what it cost to add it. (a horror)

good luck finding parts,

it was an add on option new.
