Throttle stop screw - rasmeidirt - 04-26-2020

Hi, do you have the data of the factory spec of the Throttle Stop Screw of 96's Sidekick Sport or how many turn that could be near the spec?? Mine I think the po might had messed up with it.

RE: Throttle stop screw - fixkick - 04-26-2020

you post and not say it is J18 sport, there are sidekicks with G16 engine and has a sport package but is not the wide framed, J18 sport
can you put J18 in all post by you so the engine is clear
my guess is this J18 , 4door sport with 4speed A'T trans, and 4wd right? do a signature

RE: Throttle stop screw - fixkick - 04-26-2020

The J18 car is vastly different, it has its own ECU , and totally different TB , different ISC, AC and gee all EFI controls and sensors are unique.
and a twin cam 1.8L engine , that became 20Liter , J20 4 years later. The j20 is stroked engine and some parts are shared.

I have no J18 books even the suzuki on line books have shut down for good. (not a good sign that, and no cars sold here now for 6 long years)
the old books were called a supplement, for J18, that covered this and were rare then and crazy rare now.

why do you want to play with the duty cycle screw.?

RE: Throttle stop screw - rasmeidirt - 04-26-2020

Yes it is 96 Sidekick Sport.

The screw I want to know the factory spec or near spec is:

If you have the data.

RE: Throttle stop screw - fixkick - 04-27-2020

the g16 is not a J18
I have no books on the J18, sorry, you could try to find one on ebay.

you still have not told what the problem is, at all
just asking for book facts on the ISC duty cycle calibration, that I do not have.
and is the last thing to fix, all else must be good,
the books are very rare.

There's an anecdotal dimensional description of that adjustment at the bottom of this Fixkick page:

https://fixkick.com/IDLE-AIR/screwed-again.html

Don't know how you'd get in there to measure it.

Don't know how that instruction works out, just turning that screw out running great.

you are not ever supposed to touch that screw from 1991 to 2020, same on J18. do not touch this screw.
that drawing there is of someone that did this bad act, and this is what the measurements look like on a 2nd Car UNMOLESTED.
DID  YOU? TOUCH THAT SCREW.  you need to tell that first.
if the TV valve is not at .0005 to 0.001" inch GAP, it is set wrong,  (.025mm max)
let me explain the purpose of the gap clearly.

1: to be closed as much as POSSIBLE.
2: to not JAM UP the TV into the bore when closed.
3: to prevent air flow closed.
4: the TB  , iDLE bleed air screw is what sets DUTY CYCLE air flow not the TV, not ever, at idle, but only  TV flows air unless you ACCELERATE with the right foot.

there is NO FACTORY DATA ON THIS.

why in the world mess with this screw. do tell. no clues  yet.
