I sit behind a desk all day and work on stuff for fun. This time I'll just drop 'em off and pick 'em up done. RE: Wheel bearing confusion - how to repack a NEW bearing - fixkick - 07-01-2019 still i can not understand the 2 bearing above, the National fake photos of it, or the BECK bearing with the BECK inside plastic keeper that simply removes. (shipping protection is that) Beck Arnley 051-3962 Bearing https://www.rockauto.com/info/31/BA0513962-1__ra_p.jpg rockauto beck we can see the insert here, but no grease seal, (fake seals) the fake seals may be also to keep the cheap grease from running out into the box in hot 125F warehouse. (why cheap is below) most times the box said it was shipping grease only to stop corrosion parked on shelf for a year, or more,, steel + oxygen gets you FeO2. rust. called shipping grease , Timken bearings has white sheet on this topic warning mech this grease is NOT to be run on the road. so ignore these facts and bad will happen. my motto is fixing cars is easy buying parts never. but for sure good luck to you. photo hot linked, (cross fingers) RE: Wheel bearing confusion - how to repack a NEW bearing - fixkick - 07-01-2019 I guess beck gets them from CHINA company listed as QJZ. now. RE: Wheel bearing confusion - how to repack a NEW bearing - fixkick - 07-01-2019 Beck is a top maker (history) they select parts and sell them. It may be good. but the grease , ID never use there grease ever. not me. and the 180ft/lbs of crush is not optional , ever. The photo I showed you before gives every indication of a sealed bearing. I tried pulling it apart with my hands to no avail. It still seem to have the 'crush' properties of the original but I really hope I hear from Fed Mogul on this. I have the tools and a proper torque wrench to complete the job but I just want to know if their intention on this design is to just slap it in and go. RE: Wheel bearing confusion - how to repack a NEW bearing - fixkick - 07-03-2019 is shame the bearing box , no paper inside (sheet) stating rules of installation. or the grease here in this bearing is now lifetime rated, or if just (traditional) packing grease. (please remove dust protectors, etc) my guess, is the new bearing is prepacked, but IDK. the above photo shows the older bearing, unlike yours. same mfg code same model. so is NEW TRICKS old DOG. Federal Mogul got back to me about this. Beck Arnley 051-3962 Bearing is the NON SEALED GREASEABLE bearing. -- THE ONE TO USE Beck Arnley 0513962 Bearing is a SEALED NON GREASABLE bearing. Apparently the DASH does make a difference. Federal Mogul is sending me Beck Arnley 051-3962 Bearing via FEDEX so I should have it soon and I submitted a return of the Beck Arnley 0513962 Bearing to Amazon. So I will have 2 of the right bearings after all. I have spare hubs assembly so I will make one up and keep it to have a spare. What an interesting scenario.
