USA, SIDEKICK SE-416  Speedo instrument cluster   P/N List for   89-95'
See my slide show on all heads i have seen, with comments.

See Speedo guts, here.

See a PDF of all heads  (10 years) (the below is just a  large sample!  the linked suffix columns , show photos)

There are a vast number of heads, from 89 to 98.  and more for KMH Kicks/ per hour in Canada market.
The cluster base has a white sticker on the white bottom with Suzuki Part Number (P/N).  showing  34100-nnLnn  the  - ,  this code is positive I.D. for YOUR CAR.
L= letter, n= number digit.
The first thing not to get wrong , is that the 89/90 Gen1 cars, the ECU does not use a VSS Vehicle Speed sensor (MPH) but the Cruise option does, and if present , that VSS , that speedo cluster can in fact work right with 91 and newer sidekicks.
Use an Ohm meter (DMM ,digital multi meter or any resistance meter, set to low range and see the VSS pins A1 and A2  clicks  as you spin the speedo cable  port (open then closed) , its' just a speed switch ,  a reed inside that does that)
The Mileage NAG feature (sic) is only on the FED heads, from 89 to 98,  just don't connect it, is best practice.
VSS is that magic switch (clicker) that  signals, Vehicle Speed, MPH to an ECU and or Cruise module (cruise control brain)
The VSS started in 89/90 JLX  (used only for cruise but works on all years with same connector pin out count 10/12 years.
Rule 2 , all 89/90 JLX and all years have a VSS switch.  the 89 harness my have the VSS pin missing at A2 pin, if cruise is not opted. But the JLX 89s are wired for VSS to the head. (only reason for this comment, is putting 89 head in a 91+ car)
VSS is a YELLOW! wire.
USA HEADS, IN MILE PER HOUR:   ALL heads are 10/12 pin connectors , except where noted. '
All heads are prefixed with Suzuki P/N # 34100-
(this list is not COMPLETE, there were vast numbers of heads made, for  ABS, Axle ratio's, 4WD, transmissions, USA and Canada uses KPH ,not MPH, door count or even Calif models.)
Each head has a bottom sticker showing this number, even most GM (Geo) heads.  GM don't sell them now, but Suzuk does still sell the speed clock for about $250 new.

I'd think the most easy head to find is the USA federal 48 state head, sold in 48 states.
CAL MAY HAVE  85Mph MAX SPEEDOMETER SCALE ! THE TRICKY DICK RULE (Richard M. Nixon)
What technical issues, make each one different:
Country (MPH KPH).
Year of applicability.
4WD or 2WD , , very important.  4wd lamps and Tacho feature !
2 door and 4 door .
CAL or Fed 48 USA.  Cal head is free of SES nag switch function.  (Fed has NAG ) just defeat it by not plugging it in.
Number of idot lamps and there markings.
6 digit , Odometers?  nice !

Minor visual differences:

The  small  4 in with 3 wire connector is FED mileage Nag reset switch. (useless, really)

Front:  5PM Speedo reset is on newer 94+ cars
Front:  6PM  Speedo reset is on older cars, like my 91
Front: speedo with Tacho.
Rear connectors, (I don't count the 3 wire mileage connnector because is just remove it, to the trash can)
Count the pins?, nothing is more important,  if you can't plug it in, bad news.
89 to 94 are 10/12 connector , one 10 and one 12 pin conn.
95/95 are 13/16 twin
96 to 94 are
13x10x16 , triple trouble.

Not  the least of which, is the cars harness connectors, must match the speedo head.
When buying a head.  get a photo of the rear ,fist.

FED or Federal means USA Federal Spec, heads.
The heads, are the second most complex electrical part, besides the ECU.
In each case you can swap, CAL for Fed and just leave out the 4 pin (3 wires) NAG switch ) No CAL car has such a switch. Nor out  side the USA.

v3, 3-11-2013  ,  all USA heads, no Canadian KMH heads. only Miles per hour heads.
