Penzoil Synchromesh solves tranny grinds...
#1
For those that didn't read my post a month ago. I changed manual tranny oil in my tracker and put in gl4 compatibly purple oil which is highly rated. After that, the gears ground in second both up and downshift. It's a very slippery oil! So, then I tried penzoil 80-95 gl4 and while it was better, it still ground when cold and went away after about 10 mins of driving.

Today I tried Penzoil syncromesh and this oil worked instantly. Not a single grind after changing the oil! Winner!! Only cost me $50 in oils to figure out something that works.

That's what I put last week. Wink very satisfied too. A little notch here and there but no grinds at all. I spent a bit more though. Royal purple. Red line.penzoil Sycromesh. $90 in total.

I so glad you worked it out. the brass rings, im sure are designed for dino oil.
if the natural friction of the brass ring groves, against a very smooth steel cone, is gone the synchro fails to do the sleed patch up or is slow doing it.
there are new cars with M/T that come stock with syn oil, but id bet they are very different in design, that surface contact point.
I bet this factor is one of the most complex in the box. tuning that.

For me, it turned out that I was a bit luckier, it only took 2 tries to find out that
Penzoil Synchromesh was good oil to use in the gearbox.

yes it does work
great
i saw gear box for syn lube that had rings, (synchro) that had some brakes shoe like material there, very odd this.. but expected,
the brass rings are as old as the Model T and older. (not first gear, 2nd and 3rd)
