Went out the next day and it started and ran for about ten seconds and then it died and would not start it has fuel in good amount comming out of the return for the fuel pressure regulator it has spark. but will not start. any help would be appreciated jim 701-678-4185

ever put in a new timing belt? at 60k miles.

spark to all 4 spark plugs. (are the plugs newer than 60k miles old?)
not flooding? check for flooding
what i do on all cars like this, is use timing light (strobe) and see of timing is way off, spark timing, if way off, the cam belt slipped.
and compression can be like 80psi and not 150 psi like it must be.
did you crank it with wide open throttle, this magic trick cuts FUEL 100% cleaning any flood fast (assumes spark is right and cam and spark timing are still good)
keep in mind, this car this year, the DIzzy makes its own spark (not the ECU)

the CEL lamp can help you, insert the diagnostic jumper, crank for 5seconds, does the CEL flash codes other than code 12? yes, BINGO @!

No I haven't checked the timing. But I will. This is the first Tracker that I have owned. It has only 25,000 miles was towed behind a motor home most of its life. Also I pull the transfer case into either 4 hi or 4 lo and the 4wd light comes on but the front end does not seem to engage I crawled under the vehicle and grabbed the front drive shaft and the transfer case is engaged but the front differential does not engage it does not have manual locking hubs. Any help will be appreciated jim 701-678-4185

auto locks are a problem, if they work great, if not, very very hard to dismantle and clean. see links.

even in 1990 (Suzuki offered Auto hubs as an option) (usa)

OEM style hubs.
stop car, shift 4wd (H./L) drive slow, and they lock, if not they are dirty or rusty inside.
how to test autolocks is not easy. ( but ,on ice, drag the foot brake and see all 4 wheels work.)

manuals are easy to test, as you do the service them , you have tire off the ground and you just feel it, turn the tire, feel the CV turn (or if in 4wd and in gear) you cant turn it.(locked)
the the thing is , with autos, how can you safely check them tires off the ground. (the axle must spin to get a lockup) { you might find spin the tire backwards off the ground , locks them}

the spin by hand you did, im not sure, the RPM that must be attained to get a lock. but i bet (dont know) that you can't get there easy with a hand test.

keep in mind too, that this car sends all torque to the tire that slips. (no LSD) so drag brakes with left foot. as you drive to get close to true, LSD.
my jeep does this with ABS brake drag, (called virtual LSD (no axle LSD ).

whats worse there are 4 styles of autolocks ive seen. (prev. owners might have changed them out)

and some aftermarket types?

when they work ,folks love them. but servicing them is tricky.

Thanks for the help I am going to install a brand new set of manual locking hubs. I am also going to install a new timing belt I am
assuming that the spark does not come from the ecu but from the distributor. I was surprised at how much oil is in the crankcase
holds 6 quarts?

6qt, no ...
about 9 pints max.
4.5quarts.

those imp. marks are imperial pints, very old system of measurement. , use the USA pints. or US pts.

watch out for wrong dipsticks.
if 6 came out and the dip showed level, its wrong dip. stick..

yes, the 89/90 dizzy makes spark all by self, you can remove the ECU and the Dizzy will spark all day long... (cranked but no injection, this cars ECU is injection only system)
in fact it as advancing weights, in side the dizzy that can stick , (power killer) just like antique cars, and the vacuum advance there, can fail or leak.
a strobe light can see that all fail in jiffy.
