Quick question... Re: compatibility
#1
My Sidekick JX sport is a 1988.
I need new front door panels. I found some in Tucson from a 1999 Tracker.

I know Sidekick was discontinued in 1999.

Q: What make / model / years will be compatible with my '98?

Thanks

BOTH FRONT DOOR CARDS, FOR 2DOOR car is it 2doors?
You mean 89 or 98 right there is no sidekicks in 1988.  ok 98  (was only a typo I think)

ok  So is the 1998,. wide frame J18,  4door.?    sport, real sport not just  tagged stickerize only sport as some dealers did in some states, nuts !
real Names below:

a real sport is SV418 and parts list matching same. for sure.
they also come on colors.  not just 1. black and gray codes on doors.
they have 2door and 4door car and 4doors  have electric locks and windows, got those? 2 electric things in the door (or is JLX) not sure (4doors most are electric doors fully)

I can not tell you what fits, only  what partnumbers match.    I'm sure 99 is a no go. but is this 2dr or 4door. car. and electrics in the door.

the 4door only shows 98 fits 98 and some have gray cards. called the SPECIAL.
the 2door is not the same rules,   on jx but not JA all 3 years same, cards 96/97/98  (simple crank up windows and simple locks)

now 99. never seen 99 sport ever, or heard of one,  those are Vitara's  that year, or chevy trackers. and non are j18, they are J20 or bigger.
sport is 96 -98 period.
tell my what car you really have and will the full number search in the EPC see if other cars match by exact number of door card,

the sport is wide frame car that takes the wider J18 engine (soon to be J20 late then V6 later)
that is what sport means and not just a sticker as some have.

good luck to you,

my guess you are talking to wreckers. with dreams of vitara parts, but who knows this, all I have are numbers. (and car body types and options lots)

Nothing is easy or straightforward is it?
Yes I do mean 1998, I keep calling it a 1988, must be a Freudian slip thing....

The VIN is JS3TD21V2W4107982, this same number is on a small gray tag on each of the 4 doors.
The AZ title calls the model SPX
It is a 4-door with electrics in the doors
It is the 1.8 liter engine with auto transmission.
Original list price was $18,899 on 06/1999.

Also, in the glove box is the owner's manual and it actually gives a steering spec that includes caster, camber, and toe. So, me changing the front struts will throw off the steering geometry and I'll need a an alignment... I did notice a notch in the front strut nut washer and that they were different on each side. When I got the new struts, the kit included a radial thrust washer with washer like two races. The kind you'd see on a coil-over setup. I have yet to disassemble the front end but I did look for videos and did not see these washers in play. At this point I am thinking that the struts are a one-size-fits-many application and may not be used. The new front strut mounts do not contain bearings I am am used to seeing so perhaps there is a bearing pack in there somewhere. I will align the strut washer notches were they were when I reassemble.

I sure do appreciate this site...!

i see no links to the 1999 car, full name on car nor , suzuki what is it, exactly,  99 is Chevy tracker and GM/GEO uses there OWN internal trim. not from suzuki,
off hand no 99 body parts fit sidekicks , Sidekicks all ended in year 1998, some J20 engine parts do fit J18 that is true.
what color are your panels. but I will post correct partnumbers SUZ next in 1 hour.
you want both doors front CARDS? not just one side, ok answering for both.
they came in gray, black and omg GREEN vinyl skins.
lets so, prefect left and right front.
83701- RH right hand
83702 LH
now the middle number field P/n.
77E01 all are same.
now the 3rd filed colors codes.
T02 = gray (for sure seen on 1998 jX , first gray trim)
E8R, 2 tone black gray.
j5B = green
L9C , Gray of different pattern IDK. seen only on 98 and only JLX,  and only high serial numbers, (yeh trim is this complex) vin D21 is, serial W4107402 up,  new gray code 1998 only.

eg: 83701-77e01-T02 right door skins see?

if using 3party parts, strut maker ask them for what those extra part fit, even some have instuctions in the box telling this,
the page is here to read.
chapter 3C is strut chapter, and is  always a best first read, for sure.
https://www.acksfaq.com/HTML/pdfs/96-FSM-v1-3c.pdf
3A covers alignment
https://www.acksfaq.com/HTML/pdfs/96-FSM-v1-3a.pdf

page. 4 states no caster or camber adjustments are on this car (means bent parts or frame)
on same page tells the spec on both.
and some makers of 3rd party parts do sell struts with adjustments, great  for damaged card (bent frame)
no to makers of any 3rd party parts, make the same parts, some are OEM like only or are listed as special upgrades or racing parts.  endless examples that.
you should talk to the actual strut maker for the fact on there parts.
