No dash lights in cluster....
#1
fixkick,

One thing I noticed about my tracker is that there are no dashlights in the panel. Very strange. I'm assuming the previous owner had someone replace the dash and they forgot to move over the bulbs?

Anyway, do these ebay led lights work in the dash? I purchased some of the 194 screw bases, but I'm not sure what bulbs I should put into them.

thanks,

Thank you! I thought those empty holes on slide 12 were missing bulbs. But, I think they are not missing at all. Just the one one each end is burned out. I took them out and they have a little condom on top of them. Must be a light diffuser.

fixkick,

I took the bulbs out and ran up to napa. They said it's a 194 bulb. It has a condom over top of it. He showed me a 74 bulb and it was a little bitty thing. He said it was definitely a 194.

The one bulb I was able to get to via left speaker as you suggested. The right side, I felt up over the climate control hose and did it by feel. Saved me a lot of time not ripping the dash apart.

Here is a pic of the old and new. The new bulbs seems to be working great.

a 194 is this huge bulb.... the 74 are tiny and the comdoms are tints, some are so old the tint is gone. (green or blue tint)
if you use a flash light at night , shined from front, you can see all options lamps not used.
lucky you the 1995 , has no side impart bars, added in 1996. the whole speedo is brick walled, in steel.
you auto store is on drug, go to walmart, see those 194 there. they are huge...
he never seen a 74 bulb in his life, most clerks, never seen them.

the 194 sucks 3 times the current of the 74
and the CEL lamp is even less.

the correct lamp is
http://www.bulbtown.com/74_MINIATURE_BUL...E_p/74.htm

the 194 is almost 4 watts. and will melt the bases, easy. and is .15 " larger in diameter.
id not use any 194 in confined space. like this.
but if you can fit LED there. sure. but many dont fit. the holder is very limited.

the back sides can have many option holes empth

air bag lights, ABS, 4wd if not 4wd, alarms, Immobliser, they have too many heads now.

too bad they didnt just have 1. with all options, just empty ,saving a fortune , and better economies of scale/

shine a flash light from either side to see what they are .... its fun to see what you didnt get. LOL

some head are fully socketized and glass bulbs missing, this allows you to have new spare sockets. when lost or broken
that too is a blessing'
