just went to tranny shop about my 3L30
#1
)Which they call a Hydramatic 180). They told me I can't use a bushing puller to get the tailshaft bushing out and that I will have to pull the tailshaft housing off and remove it from the inside. Are they just jacking me for hours or will the bushing come out from the outside?

4wd or 2wd?

the tail shaft blocks this.
only one way is to get the shaft out or remove extension housing

the 3L30 means to me the TM180 has part 770 added to make it fit 4wd transfer case

2wd

no doubt maybe someone makes a tool that does this, but id bet finding it takes longer (if at all) then just pulling the parts. in order.

in both cases, the extension housing unbolt.
4wd is more hard, due to transfer case in way.

id want to clean the governor and screens inside too.... if doing all that...
