intermittent missing fault in lowrange
#11
ok it blows black smoke
so its fouling the new plugs, as all do rich, like that.
black smoke is like the #1 top G16 failure. mode. its CLASSIC.
black smoke.
1: Fuel pressure way too high, reason FPR died, all do this old, its like TIME NOW TO FAIL.. 23years old, it moves its guts every time you move your right foot, so goes bad easy.
the tests are easy with any fuel pressure gauge, its is a kEY part of EFI on all G16b, if the pressure is too high it will blow black smoke, all do.
2: O2 now working right, that means even a new one fails. because of exhaust leaks near by, unplug it, black smoke gone, , BINGO.

The FPR needs to be tested at 2 vacuum points to know it works some stick , and sticks closed.
we do key on pressure (this simulates wide open throttle (pressure drops here)
idle pressure. at least.

a better post, is why does my car smoke black.?
all else is just normal symptoms of that.

a cmp will cost you,a new distributor, (in usa we have rebuilts) i bet its not that if cap and rotor and wires are good. i bet.
the 4low is just , random luck.
if it smokes black it gets worse, then wont run. all do. then new plugs and repeats , over and over.
