Ground problem
#1
1996 16v 2door 4x4 tracker I have a bad ground connection at the driver side dome light switch. passenger side is fine. works intermittently in wet conditions, I know the door switch is connected with the key in ignition alert chime, just cant seem to find where its grounding point is. thanks

the FSM covers this, we have free one, only one guy scanned it on earth, amazing feat. to PDF>

chapter 8b 114 interior lighting

http://www.acksfaq.com/HTML/pdfs/96-FSM-v2-8a-114.pdf

so does the door mode fail or the manual lamp switch on lamp fail or both wet.
2 different ground paths.

G300 grounds the door switches, (manual mode is direct to body, at lamp)

g400 LH rear passenger side, behind trim panel,

if left works and right fails its not G300 , it uses the same ground, (if wires not cut)
id say left door switch bad, first. and is very common, they can be cleaned too.

the better version of 96 fsm book is no longer on his new site, his site now has many chapters missing
but are all here..
using the waybackmachine.

12-1-2010 frozen
2010 is peak time for this, most pages there. then. now the magic below, get them why still there.

BTW2

THE REAL FSM EVEN SHOWS EVERY INCH OF ALL HARNESSES, , with all connectors, and locations of the whole thing.
not just a schematic, its shows it all.

A 96 FSM GEO tracker can be found on EBAY, best is to buy the hard copy book. it is quite good, despite errors seen here,

see my torque page
http://www.fixkick.com/specs/torque1.html

see my error page (gm made some errors, on torque and even more, used 95 facts on 96 and are dead wrong, but is minor once you know them...)
