on old cars it can be all 3 things. (on newer cars we check spark first)
94, 8valve or 95 16valve? G16a OR b? Engine?
1: compression not 170 PSI, cranking wide open throttle (or near) 150 on 8v, tad less cold. (dead engine) (cam timing belt slipped? compression drops like ROCK)
2: spark, got spark? on all 4 cylinders? and the timing light shows #1 is hitting near 0 degrees. (hood sticker shows spec usually about -5degr, BTDC) and wires laid down, for correct firing order.
2a: if not flooding, not soaking wet, spark plug tips, then we try test fuel (sprayed in to the air induction (best way varies with engine type)
if it runs for 3seconds and stalls now, then the engine and spark is good, if not above is wrong.
if good. test fuel test.
3:then we work fueling loss. (fuel pressure or NOID lamp tests is next)

click scotty here, see his video

his video assumes engine is good, some aren't (t belt slip)

if engine failed after any tuneup,
then it's.
1: firing order wrong, the G16a is backwards from B engine.
2: blown fuse.
3: CEL lamp dead, key on, yes, fuses.
4: that new china crap rotor goes on 3 ways, not my Bosch rotors. (by design)

apples and oranges....

some GM books got this wrong, which perpetuated Clymer,Haynes,Chilton printing, all books wrong and failing to revise books after 20 years. in print. a SUZUKI H3LL deal.
one GM book shows timing a Dizzy that does not exist. in 1996... FAIL big time there.
