Bosch 02 Pic and Plug question....
#1
Fixkick,

Here is a shot of the new bosch 02 sensor on the right. The previous sensor is on the left. It's interesting to see the different engineering designs. Not sure if you can tell the health of these visually.

I also changed the dizzy and spark plugs. What I found was that the spark plugs were barely tightened. I would say they were little more than hand tight. I put the new ones in and tightened down the washer and then gave it a final snug. I'm just wondering if these are supposed to be in fairly loose?

Also, here is a shot of the dizzy cap. You can see the corrosion on the posts. Top left one is really bad. I'm glad I'm changing all this stuff.

ps. I didn't put any anti-sieze on these, I hope I didn't make a mistake here.

Spark plugs should be tightened to 21 ft/lbs.

that relic Denso 02 is , no longer made, the Bosch invented this sensor and makes the best o2 on earth , IMO.
the corrosion is all very normal
the HV arcing causes Normal metal migration, it causes the alum post alum. atoms to actually fly off the post, (the first atomic bomb was made using just this magic)
(HV , Uranium enrichment process)"read book called Manhattan project, wow" i just read both, on my NOOK. dang good read....

the spark plugs do the same thing , ever seen the tips go round? same deal and the gap widen in time ,same its called a plasma.

electrons + ionized atoms. flying in space.
I have 2 friends dead from plasma. (doing HV , vault tests, and it flashed over, RIP ) "HV Electricians" 25kv.

What is bad, is the plastic dirty or carbon tracking, very very bad.
the dirt invites the latter to happen.

good luck with your Trackick.
