94 GEO tracker 4x4 automatic. flexplate
#1
I am new to this forum and new to the GEO tracker. Any help will be appreciated. I acquired a 94 tracker super clean. I completely rebuilt the engine just so I could be fairly trouble free for a few years.
Everything is done, when I went to install I found that the flexplate was no good appears to be warped. I have looked for a month for a flexplate and can find nothing but manual flywheels. I will buy used, or aftermarket I just want to finish this project. If anyone has knowledge of where one is available, please, please give me the info. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but I can't find an auto flexplate.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Very frustrated. Bob

we are gettihg closer....
the 4speed, has a P/N button, for fast or slow shifting points, (delayed shift) on the console. BINGO FOR SURE 4SPEED !
the tracker has RPO tag in the inside glove box too. tell ing what trans is there. m41 RPO code (as built)
and the tag on trans, ends all arguments in 1second.

this it? this 4sped, the P/N button , proves its electronically shifted...

really swaps happen so the trans looks like this its a 4speed.
the long bell gives it away. no governer inside, no vacuum modulator on rear , no vacuum line to it, 4speed.

drive line parts not easy to find but the below car-parts.com show them..... ever use this great service N.america?

only fits this engine. G16
only trackers, sidekicks , vitara's and the X90 rare car.
will not fit the esteem with G16, at all.
will not fit the 3speed. either.

finding one is not easy. cept dealer.
wrecking yards may be lothe to remove one from good engine., call? go here?
its listed under Chevy/tracker, flywheel then when search ends, bingo flexplate words.
http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi

also the VIN is useless for transmission ,only the RPO tag shows this.trans

the 3speed is GM box. based of TH180 from the 70s....
that 4speed, is made by Aisin, company.
the are very differnt,

find your RPO tag yet, or the lack of p/n botton on console.

is it too much trouble to tell me the RPO codes. on the glove box. (inside of door glove)? as-built it is.... those codes. all.
GM RPO 3Speed codes are MX1 and MX65

WHAT M code is there?
the crank bolt pattern is the same crank both engines and all trans, but not offset to clutch nor clutch pattern same.

i cant see your transmission there, id have to look at it with eyes or a photo to know.
off my page

M41 = 4 speed 03-72LE (electronic) A40 series, and close match is A44DE.
M65 = 3sp Auto 3L30 (with electric TCC lockup clutch but is not an electronically shifted tranny) and MX1
MM5 = Manual 5sp Type 1?
M59 = 5 sp manual too. Type 2?

is your car 2 doors, ? not even that disclosed (trackers with 2doors usualy have 3sp, but not true in canada, they had more choices sold there)
at a dealer, they would look up vin and use the serial at the end and see what the car had day1... in there GM data base.
I cant do that, nor can suzuki.
just GM. (GM today says, GEO WHAT?)

so it gets down to 2 facts RPO, or looking with eyes. at box.
sorry.....
it is a coin toss sure.

here is one more (acid test) even finds swaps, done....

under car, there is 1 engine plenum intake vacuum line on all 3speed boxes to the 3sp vacuum modulator
this proves its the 3speed in just minutes work and never lies. part ID #25 is it.
this fact ends assume....

sellers is thick plate
seller fails to say door count on car or if 3speed /4speed (just like you, )
my guess is he does not know what transmission the car uses.. at all.. but thick/ thin, sure.

the best i can tell thick is 3speed, and solid both.
the 4speed is thin but more clearly Skeletonized
as seen in my post #4 is a 4speed see those huge holes?
as seen in my side show, the 3sp look this, note lack of huge holes , in plate.

http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/slid...-base1.jpg

getting this wrong means big pain , installing,it , a real hair puller. for sure.
of all the things NOT to get wrong, this tops our list. for sure under any car , wrestliing this beast.

If he has a warped one, I would think that it would be easy to compare with the image of the ones on ebay.
I would think about why the one he has is warped.
