2001 Tracker 2.0 4wd Emission
#1
Hello

Need your assistance with Check Engine light on , and, following Emission test report:

1- Catalyst : not Ready
2- Evaporative System: not ready
3- DTC Codes P0135, P0141, and P0328
4- Battery Dead, will replace .
What gives? What do I need to do to get the Tracker on the road.

Thx. Much

P0135 - oxygen sensor code.
P0141 - Heater circuit for 02 sensor.
P0328 - Knock sensor.

What's going on with the car? Does it run properly? How many miles since last changing 02 sensor?

2001 , nice engine, J20
well first fix the DTCs.
my guess is the knock is a victim of too lean, fix 02s.

135 is, B1S1 heater dead. (or wire fell off the 2 heater pins front sensor)
141 same but B1S2 heater dead.

just a code reader? or a real scan too , you have.?
with a real tool we can see if the engine is lean,

B1S1 , just replace it. id bet it is very very old. and heater long blew open , like they all do, old.
now for bad news, if wake up sensor 1 and 2, other DTCs might pop up. like 420, the Cat monitor is suspended now. for o2 dead now logic.

evap will run after 30 mins driving and below 3/4full tank, and never full !

with new battery makes sure the charge light goes out ,running.

328 fsm words.
Engine started, engine running, and the PCM detected the Knock sensor signal was more than 3.98v for 10 seconds during the test.

i think this is wires fell off the sensor, most likely. re seat them.? at left rear of engine block tad above the oil sender.

on this engine ,when it knocks the ECU retards spark timing, for cheap low grade fuel . this is normal action.but not above.
but i dont know what it does, if the engine gets hot, and the lean burning engine pings no matter what.? my guess is this cant happen do to extreme spark retardation. (on turbos cars, its for sure)
