fuel gauge

I have a 91 2 door 5 speed 4wheel dr. the gas gauge is moving very little, or I"m getting 80 mpg! do I have to drop the tank to get to the gauge?

sell car for $50,000 if MPG is that good, even be on TV. LOL (or maybe this car has "Vacuum free energy" upgrade.? sorry for jokes...
yes tank drop.
but the connectors at 3 places fail too.
left rear tail light,
