help with engine swap
#2
that is true all 1996 in usa are OBD2, all are. by law.

the 8v is mostly useless.. for 16v cars.. the MPI intake nor exhaust will fit any 16v to 8v head.

only the bare block + crank and rods match,!
all else is wrong.
pistons, (fly cut the 8v piston tops?)
pan, pump ,crank cog , tone wheel are wrong or missing
the 16v ECU will not like your 8v engine. (but would run if pistons didnt hit valves) the 16v MAF is very forgiving , it that it only measure true air flow and does good job mixing fuel with weaker engines.
the manifolds are all radically different. (intake/exh)
even the cam belt is different length.

id find a 16v block this is still good.
if cant find one, build one. with a core that still has a good crank. (and no hole in side of block , lol)

finding good running 20year old engines, is problematic. (it will get worse...) Done here in the SOUTH they are like SUPER RARE.
i had to beg for months on craigs. and got a spun rod bearing block as my door prize. (no complaints, the core was good. so i ran with that) (ran = rebuild path)
