Troubleshooting Speedometer

i too hate the head cable clip its aluminum too, and will bend and hold and illegal shape.

if the odometer works then the cable is good. and trans, and all gears. odometer is first to get the rotary signals. (spins via worm gears)
next in line is:
the speedo is a mag coupling, (does not touch odometer side) its magnetic.

the speed is bad.

see the magnet below.?- it dont touch the cup so if the needle jams, the speed is dead.


Put it all back together and the speedo is dead but the trip odometer works.

lots of times the cup bushing fails, and make racket.
the driver ,drives ,ignores this, and it gets worse faster, and jams. the cup , just jams.
