now what new cars do ,MAF wise
if weak the ecu knows that due to having on board a MAF simulator that (uses RPM , TPS throttle angle, RPM and what gear) and if this simulator shows way off VALUE from MAF readings,
it sets a weak MAF error, ... or shows this, TPS(etc) is non congruent to maf.) modern OBD2,.
The maf dead on your car forces, LIMPHOME MODE, (gee still runs ) it run only because of the below.
this mode is a MAF emulator but is super super inaccurate, and runs rich a hell even 15mpg bad.
some folks are happy in limphome , one guy here only uses the car to pull stumps and is happy, even with spark plugs fouling all the time.
if the ECU did not have limphome mode, a dead maf kills injection dead. (no GO) this is why LIMPhome exists , only that, car still moves. (like magic)
