they throw up hands on ECU , and there are no rebuilts for them now, so no cures, but CARBs
Find old carb off S10 truck"? non TBI.
82-85  1.9 L LR1 Isuzu I4, 2-barrel < S10.
or 2.2.L  2.0 L LQ2 GM 122 I4, 2-barrel ,  s10 83/84.
seems one can fit this if not hit the hood, OMG custom shaker hood.

Thanks for educating me on the ecu issues here. It appears at this point we have no alternative to the ecu. - at least what I can find on the web. Armed with some a better understanding of what is nec. ( thanks fixkick) to make a pirate ecu work I'm going to do a bit more digging around - but at the moment a carb. Swap and tune  seems to be the go to. Here in ca. That means not street legal but also keeps the rig alive and can be used as toad.
to run on the street,  you need the ECU, and they run the im240 roller load  test at 2 speeds and check for too high CO, and NOX and HC.
the 3 gas sniffer test, if done is not easy to pass.
it will fail  nox if ECU is dead, (egr dead) and 3way cat dead.  The stock ECU cleans up EGR NOX.
not trivial that test.  calif: 1976 and newer vehicles will be tested according to state emission law. This law repeals the 30-year rolling exemption.

must pass 3 test.   (HC- raw unburned fuel, CO carbon monoxide and NO =NOX,  must pass. PPM= parts per million. MEAS = measured.

this is sidekick failing only HC (rich) but only at 15mph.
In some cases new cat can hide dirty engine, for some time. 6months? (depends on miles driven)

NOX is super easy to fail. for sure wrong ECU + EGR dead.

that is all I know about non OBD2 engine tests (they do a complex visual test for missing smog test and smoke test too)

used ECU. 30 year old are not all that common but show up here all the time.

the A32 and A42 version needs to match, auto or manual trans.

any card with 30 year older EFI will or can be a problem,
Cardone  is the best, (professionals for sure)

ive bought 91 ECU uses and all worked after new CAPs. some needed transistors fixed for ISC or VSV. easy fix as was injectors.
but sure other parts can fail some are not sold at all, now. I can name them... (for sure the white hybrids and all SIP transistor packs.)
I can substitute on the packs. (advice)

both cars use the same ECU, year to year matched. (and trans)

good luck finding  good ECU or  cheap carb.
today nothing is cheap.

there is no EEPROM flash firmware chips in these ECU at all, they can NOT be reprogrammed at all. period
folks that say that never seen any pre 96 car in there life or work one deep.
All are ROM this old.
