thunking when in drive, with brake applied.
#2
that is a gift !

when does it make noise under all conditions, even not happening.

"is in drive" means parked in drive or only moving or both.
or only braking is bad brakes.most times.

braking noise is mostly caused by bad brakes or bad front wheel bearings, or even bad suspension parts.

one trick to help solve only braking noise is to do it while making turns to see if noise goes away or gets worse.

cars can be in vast modes of use, and all matter,
gears, (A/T) do you have 4wd? if yes, the locking hubs love to rust out jam and make huge racket.
turns, or straight.
stopping or not or coasting at any speed, makes noise, (neutral)
acceleration , or deceleration.
fast , slow , up hills , down hills and parked.
lots of modes and more. hot and cold day or hot and cold engine.

the hard part is finding source, and not getting injured, doing so moving, I use electronic stethoscope and 2 man rule. (1drives)

now the best way is can you cause it to make noise not moving at all, if yes, we fix that first, with far less risk.
