which transmission, 3speed or 4? (usually 4speed is in 4doors, and no clue as to doors by you) sorry.
kickdown,TV or detent cable or passing gear cable. (same)
the cables are all 3 (throttle, cruise and kick) are set lose.
the first 2 are set 10mm lose. per the book. 1/2 inch is near 10mm (25.4mm = 1 inch)
the kick down cable is calibrated in a special way. (yours will fail, doing so)
no, the kick down cable only changes the shift points to more latter higher RPM with , aggressive throttle actions. we have the chart here.
if jammed out, transmission shifts late for ever. (we'd say it in passing gear all the time.)
the cable has spring on the other end , in the transmission.
the photo is key , there, super clear whats up.
the cable is stuck or the other end is bad.
did you carefull inspect the other end, for damage or rust. or installed wrong?
the other end goes inside the box.
inside the box is cam , bell crank device #20 and a spring.
the cable is calibrated in a special way, knowing if its 3speed or 4speed box is the only why to get the proper way to do it. (the new cable has mark on the cable to do that) at the Throttle body end.
the 3speed pulls a plunger that can rust up inside and jam.
as seen here.
