From my study, Fix Kick also recommends checking the MAP (manifold absolute pressure sensor). I have a Tracker, but he has been working on them long before I ever thought of getting one. Harbor Freight for a cheap pressure gauge or borrow from a big chain auto parts store. I had to fabricate a 6mm fitting to test from the fuel filter end, but from the front the correct fittings are usually provided in the kit. Unfortunately it appears with the car you have, any replacement part that physically fit was a candidate for bolting on. This is why I would consider the injector as a source of what you are smelling.
