Ok,I know they make kits to do these swaps. BUT ,here's my question(s). Acme website says 98 and older jettas,past ect....and newer beatles, wouldn't the newer beatles have ecu's that would need to be swapped also? And if it's the same 1.8 that's in the jetta,why can't you use it? I'm asking bc I'm considering doing this swap,since I've already got my motor out and I would like to have more power, I want to do a gas turbo 4 cylinder,keep my transmission and 4x4, I like having 4x4 for the occasional snow we get . I know this subject has been BEATEN TO DEATH. We know the engine fits, its swappable, BUT if I do this will I need a stand alone ecu, or will a newer 1.8's sensors be able to talk to my ecu on a 96 tracker?
