Ok Fixkick, I apologize for my own stupidity here. In all my pursuits to make the car run as good as possible, I timed the valves. Well, that mark for the top cam is on the valve cover which I had just laying on top to cover the valves for the evening to keep dust out of the engine. When I put a few bolts through it, everything lined up again! 
I probably should delete this post to save my ego, but maybe someone else will learn from my brain dead ways!
