Hey all,
Looking for the latest info on this idea.
I have a 93 4X4 Tracker 2 door manual with the 8v engine. I wanted more power so I purchased a donor 96 Sidekick 4 door manual with the 16v engine (this was many years ago). I was thinking about putting the 16v engine in so I completely gutted the 96... engine trans, wiring; everything because up to today, I thought I would have to swap over the wiring and most everything else and was not looking forward to this.
If I can just take the 8v engine out and swap the head and pistons etc then put the thing back in the 93 without swapping all of the wiring as well; that would be great!
I have already had the 16v head rebuilt and is ready for the swap. I have the 16v block mostly apart (need to get all the small parts back together in one place). I can take whatever I need to make the 16v head work on the 8v block from the 2 engines and all of the parts I have.
Has anyone done this and documented it in great detail?
