how to find a quality ecu
#2
(09-30-2020, 11:26 AM)Ex3n Wrote: I have pulled the ecu from my 96 5speed mt tracker. There is at least one swollen capacitor and so i would like to replace the computer. I am struggling to find a refurb unit. RockAuto is out of stock on the item. I am hoping somebody might have an idea of where i can look. I want to make sure and not get a crappy part but don't have enough expertise with these cars.

Thanks in advance for the help.
just replace the cap

Cardone 1 sells refurbs, in usa.
most autostores can special order from them .

make sure to get the right P/N,  for M/T  96
as seen here

they also (cardone) do R/R repairs. too. (they did at one time) ask em.
rockauto seems silly, after all they are stocked at Cardone.

or buy used ECU from ebay, but most need new caps, caps are short lived. (unlike say a transistor can last 100 years) caps 20years. spec.
find a shop that does real electronics repairs and point to caps.  $5 in parts, 1hr labor.
