Nothing is easy or straightforward is it?
Yes I do mean 1998, I keep calling it a 1988, must be a Freudian slip thing....
The VIN is JS3TD21V2W4107982, this same number is on a small gray tag on each of the 4 doors.
The AZ title calls the model SPX
It is a 4-door with electrics in the doors
It is the 1.8 liter engine with auto transmission.
Original list price was $18,899 on 06/1999.
Also, in the glove box is the owner's manual and it actually gives a steering spec that includes caster, camber, and toe. So, me changing the front struts will throw off the steering geometry and I'll need a an alignment... I did notice a notch in the front strut nut washer and that they were different on each side. When I got the new struts, the kit included a radial thrust washer with washer like two races. The kind you'd see on a coil-over setup. I have yet to disassemble the front end but I did look for videos and did not see these washers in play. At this point I am thinking that the struts are a one-size-fits-many application and may not be used. The new front strut mounts do not contain bearings I am am used to seeing so perhaps there is a bearing pack in there somewhere. I will align the strut washer notches were they were when I reassemble.
I sure do appreciate this site...!
