ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop
#11
rockauto is great for giving you part numbers by brand. I then punch these part numbers into google or amazon and I get the best price available. Lately I've bought exhaust and ignition parts and nothing has beat amazon's price yet, or they beat amazon by a couple of dollars but with amazon I get the two day shipping included or "free" as they like to call it.

suzuki does not make Geo trackers, but GM did.
can not by Geo parts at suzuki dealer.s
or the reverse,
unless you have both catalogs and do the translations, the hard way.

but you can look at the pictures at the dealer, and pick it out.
1/2 the time. many photos are missing at gm and suz.
many are discontinued.

Barnbiketom,

Here is the thread where rhinoman talks about building some new cables/interface solutions....

for sure i dont know how RV at startup (appl), picks the car?, but try telling the rhinoview, RV, that car is a 95 suzuki sidekick , not GM.(geo)
if possible.
the ECU is the same. on all 1995, i have the 1995, suzuki micro fiche, and it calls out Suzuki ECU partnumbers, and assignes GM to it, its not a secret this. I have the films.

my guess when he compiles his code it grabs wrong GM data. for 1995 (and others are good)

the BARO ? you said,
there is no baro on a 1995. only 8v runs a Baro for air flow, the 1996 they removed the egr thermoprobe and then added a EGR baro map. but that is not a air flow baro.

the only difference between GM and Suz, 1995, 16v is the cut in date for 1995.5 changes, (the vin cut in dates.)

I'm hoping he is able to put out a new release next week. It really is the cats whisker to troubleshoot problems! Certainly would reduce the amount of poking around to find the issue.

on some ECU there is one more baro, mounted on the main ECU, board. 8v has this
its Altitude. only.
so there are 3 baros. (wide view)
Air flow baro, never on 16v
EGR-baro, only for EGR on 1996 to 1998
and altitude baro on some ECU.

which one his uses, is unknown but see it it here.

see parameter (PID)
8 and 9

pid 5 or 8 , never both.

Jerry, John,
Here is why I post here now as I see I have the same issue with the eng coolant outlet temp seen by ECM , only difference is that it seems to be in closed loop :
My old issue : engine cooling water outlet normal ( 83 degC at idle without rad cap on , measured with wire probe inserted into rad inlet/upper pipe) but my Tech1 shows that the ECM sees 15 degC less.
Thermostat was proven OK ( WAHLER p/n3119.88 with 88 deg C opening temp) and installed corectly with proper ring on 4 mm deep well and bleeding hole facing towards the fwd screw holding the cover in place)
I have checked the ECT and it is also corect - 295 ohm at 85 degC water.
Wiring to ECM both passed OK.
Even changed the ECT for fixed resistors - ECM sees 68 degC with 270 ohm and 64 deg with 330 ohm resistors plugged to connector instead of ECT.
These symptoms are the same when using a spare ECM ( for 95 Tracker 16V A/T ) ; my actual one has been overhauled recently.
The lambda sensor is brand new and Denso.
Here is what my Tech 1 sees, when idling at 800 rpm and closed loop :
eng temp 66 degC
MAF mass air flow 1,7 g/s instead of 3,1 g/s, sensor tested OK and hotwire cleaned up.
Fuel injectors pulse 3,4 ms instead of 1,1-1,6 ms
STFT short term fuel trim oscilating 126-130 which is ok.
LTFT long term fuel trim 134 so the engine is running lean.
So, it is obvious that the ECM is trying to compensate by adding extra fuel , like when on warming up phase, when below 70 degC ...
The ISC won't show 50% duty with DLC pins 2 and 4 shorted ; only shows 0% also when in Calibration mode with Tech1, whatever position of idle air adj screw. The ISC, when disconnected, engine almost stalls. ISC has been opened up, was free and clean , it closes when blowing through without power supply, but I havent't checked if rattling when shaken ... It opens when connected to 12V but, I recqon I cannot hear it vibrating neither in normal use neither when test supplyed with 12V.
I cannot find any vacuum leaks. The O2 ( lambda) sensor is brand new ( Denso made)
I use Vetronix Reprogrammable High Capacity Cartridge p/n 02003137 but same readings I've had when using another cartridge ( GM/FORD/CHRYSLER POWERTRAIN)
Anyway, it iddles right and smooth, I only want to improve the fuel consumption as it has increased within the years even with the engine fully overhauled.
I was told about an incorrect definition being released for the 16V ECU and I am probably chasing a non-existent fault and, reading back through the symptoms, its definitely the Tech1 that is wrong. So I've just purchased an used Mastertech from US so as to can use my existing Tech1 cartridges and adaptors. Hope I will receive it soon and I will redo the tests.

REDUX (NO VIN GIVEN MAKING PARTS HARD TO BUY , IT WILL !)
here is what is wrong, first off , why is a tracker in Romania? none of my business, but is a rare car, to see CAMI cars in Europe "any where: 5000 miles !
and is not a SQ416 ,i'ts a GM product made in Cami plant in Canada, with SUZUKI G16B engine with USA ECU and the USA ECT sensor
if you use any of the 5 other ETC sensors, used word wide, it will not work right with you ECU nor with the USA tech1 scanner, (im guessing USA plugins)

the correct ECT is sold at GM and at SUZUKI in USA only. (i scanned the entire suzuki database to pull off that fact) !!
THE SUZUKI P/N IS: for your cars ECU, (matching it is a must)
13650-57F00
http://www.suzukicarparts.com/parts/1995...eid=214820

there are 5 makers of this sensor here in USA< Delco,, Delphi and =SMP and others all sold at rockauto.com need pn?
id bet your local suzuki dealer, would have to back order it. if you called them and used the correct p/n above.

I'm sorry, but you can not use non USA ECT or non 57F00 ECT. very sorry

I have received the Mastertech, hooked it up, igt shows exactly the same readings as Tech1 referred before. So the scanner is proved ok. I will check again but using a Suzuki mass storage cartridge - before, two different GM cartridges used.
Related to the ECT sensor reading, I want to sort out the 200 ohm offset issue by making up an alternative, custom sensor - a 2 kOhm thermistor fitted inside a pocket or even surface mounted somewhere on CW outlet area. This way I hope I can reduce the voltage seen by the ECM.
Any idea what is the ECT sensor pocket thread size ?

you have the wrong ECT in your car.
and maybe the wrong scan tool plugin, the correct plugin is the USA Tracker plug in. not Vitara or SQ416 of any kinds.
