Any recommendations for buying a salvage transmission for my '99 4WD Chevy Tracker with a 1.6 liter engine and a five speed manual transmission? Or are there any reman trans available?
I want a replacement transmission I can drop in.
None of the shops here are wiling to split the case and work on internals. They say that hard parts like a new input shaft are not available.
My Tracker is drivable but there is a whirring noise in the tranny whenever I engage the clutch and in all forward gears (much less or even non-existent in fourth and fifth). Occasional hard shift into gear as though I did not use the clutch to shift. A shop in Canada replaced the rear lower bearing and both front and rear seals after major trans oil leak.
I have flat towed this car. Always had the trans and transfer gear case in neutral when towing. Always ran the car with trans in gear every 200 miles or less to lube the bearings.
Thanks
