1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - Dwayne - 11-04-2015 I need to know what the wire are Harness side on the 02 sensor so i can hook up a 4 wire 02 sensor to the 3 wire. i have a blk/whit, Pink, grey wire going from the pin plug to the firewall wiring harness wiring. RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - Dwayne - 11-04-2015 this is the 16v and made in nov of 1992. i have a 4 wire Bosh to install which has two white a black and grey wire. the old sensor is fried and destroyed. can you tell me which wire to hook up to what and thanks so much for your quick reply RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - Dwayne - 11-05-2015 I have a red/blue, pink, and black white on the harness side. looks like the Red/blue has been spliced into a grey wire running into the fire wall. I checked and the red/blue wire is hot when key is turned on and the black/white is ground when key is turned off. but when you turn the key on the black/white is not ground???/what is going on. huh: RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - fixkick - 11-05-2015 redux, seems its the ReLay car./ RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - Dwayne - 11-05-2015 i am new to this site. tell me how to post pic to gallery RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - fixkick - 11-05-2015 ok got your photo but i can not see all the wires there. car is not a GEO, its a real suzuki JLK car. right? (rule 1 , ignore all dots, i think dots mean market code, but dont care and is a secret that.) now i see why its so hard... cuz it IS ! faded colors and hacks. questions lots of questions, cant see all angles. is there 3 wires there or 4, behind that connector? (from first post presume 3) i see the red? or pink wire there at 12pm. then i see black-white (12vdc power that is, ignition on power.) but cant see the cavity behind the black-white, is it empty? if yes that be pin 3. old cars with faded wire colors are hard to read, I skin the tape back and see wire colors true, un faded, i do. where exactly does that bogus GRAY wire go.??? i see that the relay car has a coax wire there. so many questions, if you remove the black tape at 12pm, does the wire now turn classic red-blue? or red-black (id bet red-black , a very important fact that) (best i can tell so far is...) (my page has this drawing for 02 relay car) im now thinking this car is the 02 relay car.. if red is really red-black, that is , red with a black stripe is it? (love to know the hiding place of that relay, never seen one) red-black =CeLL + (oxy out sig) COAX (has a shielded wire) Pink= switched ground for heater. (relay) 0v key on. blk-white= heater power 12vdc, from IG-coil fuse, hot when key turned on., 12v key on. there are 3 wiring schems, used in 1992, so..... and faded wiring prevents me from telling the last 2, (if it 3 wire , then its not 4 wire) 1 down 2 more possible. ok if it is these colors and relay car, then.... this is how to do it. you remove the tape on 12pm red-black wire, and see that the gray wire is really not a gray where but is a coax cable (aymany are gr) and is stock on some engines the 3 wires or 4 wires are all shielded at once.. some cars (relay car does) many just have the critical, CELL+ wire shielded only.. and the wire goes to the ECU to B20 pin. and is gray and shield too. and is red-black at ECu end too. bingo. the relay car. then the next wire CCW is PINK (is it even far back in harness? than it is pink , more proof car is the relay car. and CCW we have black-white. this is my first sidekick 02 relay car, they are very rare. so if all the above is correct guess 2. then how to wire the 02. did you lose the other end of that connector? questions, lots and lots of questions. 02 side? the old 02 still have that nice connector???? if YES, then cut off the old 02. take those 3 wire, and using harness rules, not 02 colors old connect like this. Red-black. goes to bosch GRAY (CELL +) then pink goes to bosch white heater. black-white goes to other bosch white wire. last is bosch gray goes to best ground you can find, your car the 02 sensor is case grounded, you bought the wrong sensor so is not grounded but that wire is the 4th wire, gray, and must be grounded. the pink wire must be 0v (when all connected) key on. or the relay is bad. my page has this relay system. more coming soon.... and a new table. if you confirm my questions. now the revised photo. next a new table, in next hour. RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - fixkick - 11-05-2015 done i wonder where that relay hides, with pink wire. my guess under hood. because under dash pink wire relay is fuel pump. but this pink wire is tiny , unlike pump feed. added your photo and a new table for relay car. http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/OxyGen_sensor_help.html#relay_car RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - Dwayne - 11-06-2015 to answer your questions. there are only 3 wires on harness side. i will check the grey wire to see if it is a coax sheld wire and i will look to see where the pink wire goes and report back. you have been very helpful i thank you so much. will hook up this after noon and report back. RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - fixkick - 11-06-2015 i upgraded my page. has a link to a $23 PNP sensor from DENSO. just plug it in, and end the hard work. (rockauto.com) wow i just read the whole suzuki catalogs, the relay is impossible to find. there. but is real. suzuki JLX in USA? 4 doors??? 4wd (yes) (3sp/4sp or 5sp stick?) love to know this so i can look up parts using correct market codes. there are 53 markets so........... thanks for this rare photo of this version .... RE: 1992 jlx 4x4 02 sensor - Dwayne - 11-12-2015 This is a 4wd, 4 door, Automatic with overdrive. all electirc. I installed o2 sensor and engine seems to run much better but still very weak until warms up but idles and runs great otherwise. I cant really be sure the 02 sensor made the difference becasue i also change sparkplugs. 02 Relay may be bad. (where is it) the relay. I now need to set the choke as the engine does not idle up when it is cold. any idea's. |
