front seat backrest adjustment - jjsohn - 08-30-2015 Great site! Have Suzuki Vitara (sidekick) JLX, 2door, 1992-3, TBI (throttle body injection) 8 valve, 230.000km Front seat backrest has play. Need to adjust the front seat backrest (not headrest) I loosen all screws of the seat side trim; I seem to need to get off (encircled in photo) the plastic attached to front seat backrest adjustment lever Does it come off with force by pulling it forward? (indicated arrow in picture attatched) Thanks for any help RE: front seat backrest adjustment - fixkick - 08-30-2015 lift up and pull it straight off, (IIRC) its a press fit. not unlike a radio knob of old. RE: front seat backrest adjustment - jjsohn - 09-07-2015 Great. Thanks for your reply Now knowing it’s a press-fit and with no experience applying a good loosening technique I tried but feared I could end up breaking it. So ended up tightening the upper bolt of the reclining assembly, inserting a 12mm spanner between the reclining assembly and the seat cover. (Encircled in diagram) Now front-seat back rest has no play! Thanks again! RE: front seat backrest adjustment - fixkick - 09-07-2015 GREAT Yes,. the plastic handle just pulls off. of you look there is no set screw, so, is pull off. IIRC cheers |
