Gush of air when removing fuel cap.... - cosmic_splatter - 08-09-2014

fixkick,

Is it normal to have a gush of air when you remove the fuel cap? I noticed there is a check valve on top of the gas tank. Not sure if it's supposed to be relieving this air pressure.

I'm going to be pulling my tank in the next few days to repair the forward beam. I want to know if I should be replacing that check valve proactively. I may install a new sending unit since fuel seems to fluctuate a bit.

that is normal on all cars, made, with evap systems. its pressure, the cap has a vacuum breaker, if the vacuum breaker is missing the tank implodes, like seen on my pump page.

that check valve does hold positive pressures as the fuel warms.
